The Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) is rightfully suspicious of web sites it does not know. As such, it will inherently restrict some advanced functionality of some websites. IE determines the trust level by using security "zones". By default, web sites outside of your organisation will be in the "Internet" zone, which is amongst the lowest level of trust.
If you are experiencing problems with PoolCar, such as location selectors not refreshing the page, or exporting data grids results in an error, your PC may be configured to slot PoolCar into the Internet zone (low trust).
This document applies to IE versions 7 and 8. Later versions of IE still have the same issues, but the resolution steps are a little different than what is detailed here. For later versions of IE, see this page.
What Version Browser am I Using?
At the top of your browser window, do you see the help icon, next to Tools? It looks like this:
If you see this, you are using IE 7 or 8. Good, you're reading the correct article!
Now, if you look at the bottom of your browser, do you see this?
This means you are in the Internet zone (low trust).
To enable the full functionality of PoolCar, you will need to change from the Internet zone to the "Trusted Sites" zone. The following steps explain how to do this. Note - these settings may be disabled for your PC if your network administrator has 'locked down' the settings. If so, you will need to contact your network administrator add ask them to add "yourdomain.PoolCar.com" to the list of trusted sites.
1. Click Tools (next to the ? icon)
2. Click Internet Options then click the Security tab.
3. Follow this click sequence:
5. After clicking the Close button, click the OK button to close the window. You should now be back at the main browser window.
6. Verify the above steps have worked by noticing the Internet zone has changed to Trusted Sites, like in this picture:
That's it, the full functionality should now be available to you.
